Material asset management for public-sector field operations

Initial situation

Several public-sector organizations operated SAP as their standard ERP platform but found that SAP's native capabilities did not provide sufficient mobile support for field-based asset registration, location management and periodic inventory checks. Field personnel needed to work across multiple sites under strict security restrictions that excluded external cloud services or standard internet-connected tools. The environments also required reliable extended offline operation where network access was limited or unreliable.

Our solution

A dedicated material asset management solution was developed alongside a SAP synchronization module. The system covered asset registration, location reassignment, inventory checks and master data management for assets, locations and organizational units. Mobile hardware equipped with RFID and barcode readers enabled field personnel to capture and update asset data on-site. A back-office module provided centralized administration. Implementation and ongoing maintenance were conducted on-site to meet the operating environment's security requirements, with the solution architected for extended offline use and controlled SAP synchronization.

The result

Field registration and inventory checks became more structured and auditable. Digital workflows replaced paper records and manual handoffs, reducing the effort required for periodic checks and improving the consistency of asset data.
